The initial laboratory results were worrying. The chips were found to contain a very high concentration of capsaicin, a substance found in chili peppers that is responsible for their spiciness. Capsaicin can cause damage to health, especially if consumed in excess and by children. Another worrying discovery was that the amount of capsaicin in the samples varied widely, suggesting inconsistent production and possible risks to consumers.

The "Hot Chip Challenge" has not only caused a stir in Germany. Interestingly, the competent authority in the Czech Republic has already responded to the concerns and examined the product. Their conclusion was that the labeling of the product is considered sufficient. They believe that the information on the label is sufficient to warn consumers.
